Boston Marathon

MAY 28, 2020
The Boston Athletic Association has announced that the 124th Boston Marathon will be held as a virtual event, following Boston Mayor Martin Walsh’s cancellation of the marathon as a mass participation road running event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The virtual Boston Marathon will be complemented by a series of virtual events throughout the second week of September.  Information on the virtual race can be found here.

Meet our Marathon Runners

Julia Caffrey and Olivia Walsh will raise critical funds to help thousands of Boston youth improve their life through programs like We Belong and Women in Blue.  Together, we will impact, inspire and empower our disadvantaged youth through nationally recognized BPD community policing programs and provide opportunities and support to help them embark on a productive and positive life journey.

Meet Julia Caffrey

Growing up in Rhode Island, I have always had a love for the city of Boston, spending a full summer in the city interning.  Currently living in NYC, I am an Account Executive at Barbarian, a digital advertising agency, working on the Samsung account.  I graduated from Trinity College with a major in English Literature and minor in Studio Arts.  I took my passion for running to the next level this past year, completing the 2019 TCS New York Marathon with the Team for Kids.   It has been a dream of mine to run in the Boston Marathon and I am so excited that PAL is giving me the opportunity to do so!

Meet Olivia Walsh

Born and raised in Milton, MA, I am the oldest of five kids, and currently work as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  I graduated from Boston College in 2015 and am now back at BC earning my Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner degree and will graduate in May 2020 with my Master’s in Nursing.  I was fortunate to run the Boston Marathon once before, and I’m so excited to be running and raising money for PAL!
